About

Good coaching starts with paying attention.

Renegade Personal Training was built around a simple idea: understand the person in front of you, coach the fundamentals well, and make training something that creates progress for years, not just a hard hour.

I started coaching in college to help out the gym I trained at. Then people started getting genuinely better, and it stopped being a side job.

Six years and several thousand hours later, I've coached one-on-one, in small groups and in full classes, with people at every level of experience. Most of what I know came from watching a very large number of different bodies move, and paying attention to what actually changed things.

I swam competitively in high school and have since then been training seriously for the past seven years, doing local competitions and inching the needle one day at a time. That keeps me honest about how long real progress takes.

I started strength training in college and quickly became interested in understanding what actually makes someone stronger, not just working harder, but learning how to move well, train consistently, and progress over time.

After years of training myself and helping others with their own strength and fitness goals, I began coaching both group classes and individuals one-on-one. My approach is patient and detail-oriented, with an emphasis on good movement, strong fundamentals, and helping people build confidence in the gym.

I still train seriously myself, which keeps me connected to the process of getting stronger, working through weaknesses, and making progress over the long term.

02 How we coach

Good training isn't complicated. It's just rarely done well.

Squat, hinge, press, pull, carry. The fundamentals have been understood for decades. What's rare is someone paying close enough attention to the details, and patient enough to progress them properly.

  1. 01

The basics, held to a standard

Squat, hinge, press, pull, carry. Done properly and progressed patiently, they outperform anything more interesting.

  2. 02

    Individual, not adapted

Your program comes from your assessment. Nothing is handed down from a template or borrowed from what worked for someone else.

  3. 03

    You should understand it

We want you to understand what you’re doing and why you’re doing it. Training works better when you’re an active participant in the process.

The few hours you train with us each week matter. So do the other 160+ outside the gym.

03 Why we do it

Strength is the part you keep.

Almost everything people want more of runs through physical health. Energy, capability, independence later on. Training is the most direct way to influence it, and it's available to anyone willing to show up consistently.

That's why the standard matters here. An hour done properly compounds. An hour done carelessly just makes you tired.
